Ford announced its results for the third quarter of 2023, as the electric vehicle sector witnessed a remarkable growth in sales by 14% compared to the same period in 2022.

In exact numbers, Ford shipped 20,962 electric vehicles in the third quarter of the year, compared to 18,257 vehicles the previous year. With total electric vehicle sales for the whole year, Ford exceeded the barrier of 46,671 cars, indicating an increase of 13.2% over the year 2022.

Although these numbers may not seem exciting compared to the largest electric vehicle manufacturers, growth remains strong and stable.

The Mustang Mach-E tops the list of electric car sales, having recorded sales of 14,842 new cars this year, which represents an amazing growth of 42.5% compared to last year. In September, the Mustang Mach-E set a new record with sales of 5,872 copies.

On the other side of the field, sales of the F-150 Lightning electric vehicle saw a 45.8% decline, with just 3,503 units sold this year. Despite the decline in electric truck sales, demand for this model remains high.

In terms of non-electric vehicles, Ford's conventional and hybrid vehicles showed outstanding performance. The F-Series maintained its position as America's most popular truck, with sales of 190,477 copies in the third quarter, confirming that Ford still maintains a strong grip on the American truck market.

Regarding the electric van sector, sales of the E-Transit electric van increased by 89.8%.

However, Ford is expected to be hampered by some difficulties in delivering electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of the year, as production has been suspended due to ongoing negotiations between the company and the American Labor Union over compensation and benefits for workers.

Despite the challenges, Ford continues to expand its reach in the electric vehicle sector, investing billions of dollars to strengthen its footprint in this sector.

In the field of semi-autonomous technology, the company’s “Blue Cruise” self-driving system is achieving remarkable results, as the system recorded 125 million miles of driving without intervention, which represents an increase of 33% over the end of the second quarter of the year.

It is worth noting that total Ford truck sales in the third quarter reached 275,554 copies, an increase of 15.3% over the previous year. In total, 825,179 trucks and vans were sold through September, strengthening Ford's leadership position in this sector, as it surpassed General Motors' numbers by about 64,000 copies.

Ultimately, despite some challenges, Ford is confidently moving toward a cleaner future, while maintaining its strong roots in the traditional automotive market.
