The world of cars makes many unexpected alliances. The latest news indicates that the two Japanese giants, Toyota and Suzuki, may unite to produce a small electric SUV targeting markets in 2025.

This alliance is no stranger to us, as the two companies share a long history of renaming cars and sharing technology. Both companies have entered into joint ventures in diverse markets extending from Europe to Southeast Asia, and even in South Africa and India.

The small electric SUV is expected to be the production version of the Toyota bZ subcompact concept that was unveiled last year.

This potential cooperation comes in light of Toyota's recent expansion in its electric agenda, and what increases the possibility of this is the recent registration of the trademark from Toyota with the American Royal Commission, where the company requested to register the name “FT-3e” on September 29.

Toyota is interested in capitalizing on the success of small electric cars in its home market. But this car is not designed only for lovers of sushi and sakura flowers. The goal is to launch it on a global scale, and Europe is considered a main target for the company.

Why did you choose Suzuki specifically? The answer is simple, they are small car artists.

The bZ small SUV turned heads in December 2021. Toyota and Lexus presented 15 concept models, and the small bZ was one of the coolest of them.

This model was not just an imaginative design, but there was a realistic full-size model, but with darkened windows. This small model has been highlighted as the latest and smallest member of Toyota's electric (bZ) family, which stands for “Beyond Zero”.

During its big reveal, Toyota did not reveal all its cards. It hinted that the bZ small SUV was designed primarily for European and Japanese consumers.

What Toyota allowed to be revealed is that the car is built on the eTNGA architecture, and targets an estimated energy consumption of 125 watt-hours/km.

As for its size, it falls between the Toyota Aygo This is a rough estimate of course, as the exact size remains hidden.

It is worth noting that Suzuki plans to launch the production version of the eVX by 2025.

However, the Suzuki model is expected to be larger, with the concept hinting at a length of 4,300mm.
